The friendly local running club that caters for all

Who Are We?

Wetherby Runners was formed in October 2004 as the first and only UK Athletics affiliated club in the Wetherby area. The club welcomes new runners of all ages as well as those with a few miles under their feet.

The senior section meet at the clubhouse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm. As the club encourages runners of all abilities from complete novices to seasoned athletes, time is spent at the start of the evening splitting into ability related groups, During the summer months the routes take in the fine bridleways and footpaths around the town.

Specific training nights are arranged including fartlek, pyramid, hill or speed sessions designed to improve different aspects of running fitness.

The more competitive club runners compete in local league events. At present this includes the West Yorkshire Cross Country League, the Harrogate & District Summer Road Race League, The Black Sheep Race Series and PECO cross country.

Wetherby Runners has a keen and enthusiastic junior section catering for boys and girls from the age of 10 and are trained under UK Athletics qualified coaches. Juniors meet at the clubhouse on a Sunday morning and also train at Boston Spa High School on a Tuesday evening at 6:00pm. The only qualification necessary is enthusiasm. For further information contact club coach Ian Legg on Wetherby 01937 587434 or 07860 334431 Or refer to the Junior section of the website.

The club meet at the Wetherby Sports Association. This is the headquarters of Wetherby Athletic FC adjacent to Wetherby Leisure Centre on Lodge Lane. This facility makes an ideal base for the club for changing, showers and afterwards in the bar. You can be assured of a warm welcome, regardless of your current ability.
